To underline this hypocrisy, yesterday a group of animal rebels brought flowers into a supermarket, together with notes with phrases such as "plant-based future" or "for those who suffer".
For animals that suffer unnecessarily, and for all the suffering that animal farming has creating to the planet and to society, negatively impacting climate and ecosystems.
This is why we ask the autonomous provinces of Trento and Bolzano to move from words to deeds: to remove subsidies from livestock farming and to promote a real transition towards a food system that is truly "sustainable".
PUT FLOWERS IN YOUR SUPERMARKETS 🌹💐
The "Sustainability Days" in Bolzano-Bozen ended yesterday 9 September. The menu proposed during the event was a proved that local administration is aware of the fact that a plant-based diet is the least impacting, both on an ecological and climatic level (even less than an omnivorous local diet, according to scientific research). Despite this, the awareness that emerged in this event, which costed 2.4 million euro, has not been converted into real political choices yet: there are still too many subsidies to farms, too many imports of milk for dairy products in South Tyrol, and too much meat imported from abroad to produce "local" and "traditional" speck.
