I’m in a brainstorming kinda mood. What can we do to help more of our pals abandon corpo social media and hang out in #mastodon / #fediverse instead? Let’s make this thread long and chaotic!
@patrickmcurry From my point of view the whole point of the Fediverse is to get rid of many of these automations and build some honest relations just by interacting and not based on algorithms, suggestions and so on.
I have personally made some small experiments and I can tell that with the same post published here and on Twitter I had more engagement and deep discussions here than on the birdsite despite the fact that I had more followers there.
@Ca_Gi I agree, I’d much rather have authentic conversations with people. But I’d like to also keep in touch with my friends on other sites who haven’t migrated yet.
Thanks for the reply! If you have other ideas for how to get pals over here on the Fediverse, I’d love to keep brainstorming!
@patrickmcurry Regarding the 'remaining in touch with friends on other sites' I act so:
- a crossposter posts automaticly my original toots on my Twitter account
- I follow here some Twitter users through beta.birdsite.live/
- I talk directly to my friends asking to open an account here
@Ca_Gi Great tips! I don't think birdsite.live works on my instance, but I'll look into it!
