I keep hearing that #Mastodon is not likely to replace #Twitter. To that I say: so what?
I've been contributing to the #Linux desktop for the last 15 years not because it's likely to replace #Windows, but because providing people with free desktop is the right thing to do.
I use and support Mastodon not because it's likely to replace Twitter, but because it's a social network done right.

There is a solution for sustaining Free Software forge development.

All it takes is a dozen employees of French organizations motivated to take the money the government R&D incentive offers to pay for their salary. And they can happily cooperate with volunteers in a democratic non-profit environment.

This is not a theory, that's what pays for a fair share of my salary.

Other forms of funding (Grants & donations) help too, for people outside of France.

Se sentite la mancanza di alcune fonti di contenuti interessanti su Twitter (che nel #fediverso chiamiamo "birdsite") potete usare il gateway https://beta.birdsite.live per creare un "bot", un automatismo che trasporta su mastodon (in un account fittizio col quale non si può interagire) i contenuti di un account twitter. (vedi esempio inutile in figura, inutile perché su Twitter non scrivo più).
