The Linux Foundation’s Staff Uses Windows and Microsoft. Now the Foundation Outsources the Coding and Hosting, Too (to Microsoft of Course) at techrights.org/2019/06/25/linu - discuss at freepo.st/freepost.cgi/post/v8 #freepost

Facebook Libra / EU public money

One key component in comes from an academic startup - chainspace.io - originally part of the EU funded project DECODE

Way too easy for Suckerberg to buy a R&D that is funded with EU public money.
Ironically, DECODE stands for DEcentralised Citizen Owned Data Ecosystem - and people at chainspace turned their back to the whole mission: these people did not think twice before selling themselves and their research to the privacy oppressor.

#Opera, #Brave, #Vivaldi to ignore Chrome's anti-ad-blocker changes, despite shared codebase

zdnet.com/article/opera-brave-

Perhaps the shared codebase is the problem here? Insisting on anything else, because companies don't want to put in the work to have an independent engine is just dancing around the issue. They're still supporting browser monoculture, #Google ultimately has the engineering resources to make it difficult to sync with upstream, they also control extensions/the store.

Using as browser? Time to switch to something else!

That's the consequence of forking an open source project that is owned by the evil G. They still maintain control on what you release, and how you distribute your binaries on smartphones, and enforce their policy of control. is an example of good intentions, poorly implemented.

Chromium is just a bait project to get users and developers hooked to Google's proprietary technologies.

@schestowitz the last few years it seems the #LinuxFoundation is more of a money grabber thing for conferences than freedom of speech and defending users' rights :( #EFF For the win.

#microsoft must be laughing really hard when it sees people saying things like "new Microsoft" or "but it's Open Source" and "Microsoft loves Linux"

"The PR campaign worked," says Microsoft, "now they repeat our lies for us!"

Centralized tech platforms are "handmaidens to authoritarianism"
- Carole Cadwalladr, who exposed the illegal facebook ads around #brexit

“Critics of the big tech companies are often told, ‘If you don’t like the company, don’t use its products.’ I did this experiment to find out if that is possible, and I found out that it’s not—with the exception of Apple. These companies are unavoidable because they control internet infrastructure, online commerce, and information flows. Many of them specialize in tracking you around the web, whether you use their products or not”

This might well be the creepiest #Google page ever: All the purchases a user has ever done. If the user receives a confirmation email for a purchase they made, the user is not notified that Google collected and displays this piece of information in this page. There is no explanation why they are collecting all the purchases in one page, and apparently there is no way to opt out of this or even delete the purchases from the list.

OH WAIT THAT'S A POSSIBILITY TOO

Google controls what you click

If you use google as search engine, even if you are logged out and browsing in private mode, you will get 'tailored' results that are different from those of other users, in fact influencing your next click.

Take action now and stop using manipulative tools. Switch to the Duck side!
