And for those who wonder how it works, well, it's all publicly available:

For the non-federated services (CodiMD and GitLab) you can actually sign-up on keycloak and get access to them.

It's easy, it's fast and the entire backend is encrypted. There are also automated daily backups to another cloud provider. And hosting static websites is available as well.

Take time, build things slowly but steady and you'll get wonderful integrated services.

There was recently a lot of news about DNS over HTTPS. Some people say it's bad for privacy because it centralizes the DNS requests on Google, Cloudflare and Quad9.

Time to change that and run your own DNS over HTTPS server. I spend some time today in writing, documenting and arranging a small container setup to allow you to do this:

git.shivering-isles.com/contai

#DNSoverHTTPS #DoH #Docker #privacy #infosec #selfHosting #DNS

introducing self: Grafton9, a diy archiving initiative of italian books, zines and journals of autonomous left and grassroots squats, of late '90s (but not only). very low quality, very low profile, a lot of activities on hacking tools and software for digitization and publishing on the web, and collecting rare published materials.

everything can be browsed, downloaded, keeped offline.

maybe we need to do more smashing, instead of building

we all seem to be furiously writing as much code as we can, and using machines to amplify the amount of code produced

i think we are writing too much code, in the same way as too much shitty philosophy is being published

the philosopher alasdair macintyre talks about how in the early 1980s philosophy published way, way less

maybe now is the time for thinking, and not acting, and if it is time to act, it is time to dismantle, and not create...

"sometimes the most violent thing to do is nothing at all"... maybe zizek /is/ right...

another maxim i like - "dismantle globally, build locally"

echo ${PIPESTATUS[@]} # Show the return values of each command in a pipeline as one string. Or use an index number for the Nth command.

Today I got promoted to IT manager position after my proposal got approved by the management to use multiple open source solutions and replace propriety products the company is using.

Tests went well and they were happy with the services. I will be handling the migration and training for the coming months.

To thank the wonderful open source community I will be donating a part of my pay for the coming 3 months.

Ramsey Nasser — قلب

قلب is a programming language exploring the role of human culture in coding. Code is written entirely in Arabic, highlighting cultural biases of computer science and challenging the assumptions we make about programming. It is implemented as a tree-walking language interpreter in JavaScript.

Why AM/PM is a bad idea:

- It's more complicated.
- Is 12:00 PM in the morning or evening? I don't know.
- 12:00 PM followed by 12:01 AM, WTF?
- Which date does 12:00 PM belong to?

Benefits of 24-hour clock:

- Simple, hours run from 00 to 23.
- 12:00 is noon.
- 00:00 is midnight of the subsequent day
- 24:00 is the exact same time, but on the previous day

Thus, it's obvious what point in time I'm referring to when I say 7'th Oct 00:00.

Now, let's fix DST.

printf "%3d %3d %3d %3d %3d %3d %3d %3d %3d %3d\n" $( echo {1..10}*{1..10}\; | bc ) # Print a multiplication table. Great for those 3rd grader CLI users but also a great demo. :)
