@quarkrotto We suppose it's good western scientists are finally recognising this, but all we can see is yet another example of how non-Western European peoples have been saying this for time immemorial, and been dismissed as "silly, superstitious savages" for daring to suggest that humans are not unique in being conscious.

Uncomfortable thoughts about animal well-being

@quarkrotto I find this thought very scary. Eating vegan is manageable, but I don't know how one can act ethically when every step you take could kill - or perhaps worse, cause severe injury and suffering - to conscious beings. I also wonder if this extends to bacteria or even our cells.
