The Modi-Shah Govt’s anti people, anti labour policies have created catastrophic unemployment & are weakening our PSUs to justify their sale to Modi’s crony capitalist friends.

Today, over 25 crore 🇮🇳workers have called for #BharatBandh2020 in protest.

I salute them.

The blackout in Kashmir is now the longest internet shutdown ever imposed in a democracy.

It is part of a terrifying trend under the Modi government--including an anti-Muslim citizenship law and a purge of Muslim citizens in Assam.

All who value democracy should be speaking up. twitter.com/KhaledBeydoun/stat

I am participating in this All India strike in solidarity with our students and women in their fight against the draconian #CAA_NRC_NPR

We will resist all efforts of this communal fascist Government to divide our society and subjugate us!

We shall overcome and we will win ✊

Let's remind Mr. BJP President, the Full time election campaigner and part time home minister of india that it's a democracy. And people decide their good. And public opinion matters.

Union home minister Amit Shah on Tuesday called Narendra Modi a decisive administrator and said the Prime Minister does not take decisions based on public perception or to please people. He said that Modi takes decisions for the people’s good.

While I appreciate @deepikapadukone@twitter.com 's gesture, but I would urge people to expend their energies n resources in supporting the fight of students and anti CAA protesters. They need them the most.

I am sure Deepika can ensure success of #Chappak through her great acting skills.

Time a large part of the media took a cue from them and did the same? A great first step or rather, leap would be to to stop using these asinine terms like ‘tukde-tukde’ 😏 twitter.com/rahulkanwal/status

After seeing a month of women leading the protests, mostly women from Bollywood taking stand, I recalled a dialogue from 'Mrs Maisel' where when she accidentally reached at a protest which women were leading but she didn't had any idea of and gets surprised to know about the cause and says 'They intentionally distract women and don't let them know about the issues because if women realise what's going on in the world, they will step in and fix it.' #womenempowerment #CAA_NRC #JNUAttack #newindia

FWIW - from a member of the family that owns Marico, one of India's largest consumer goods companies:

In another era one would have expected a Prime Minister to provide the healing touch. Instead, today we have his dog-whistled colleagues and minions in government, politics and media, abusing, threatening and pulling down those in public life who try to do their bit.

Birdsite trends in India are getting so predictable they should be a drinking game.

This is what this government has done, taken away your humanity, and turned you into shells of evil. And yet, people stand up for each other, in biting cold, in the face of guns, lathis, and acid bottles. Solidarities are getting stronger, the people stand united, even if it's a minority, it's still United. (2/n)

When the police violence happened in Jamia, and AMU, I was very clear, that a precedent had been set, on how the state can treat students now. This is a culmination of a long project in which students have been demonized, ostracized, and de-humanized, so when terrorist, and masked rioters with iron rods, and sticks, beat them up, there is no help, there is no sympathy, so that there are people who say, 'acha hua'. Sadly, I know too many people who are saying this, who are thinking this (1/n)
