Der 1967 veröffentlichte Text ist ein zentrales Werk des Poststrukturalismus und begründet damit das Lektüre- und Analyseverfahren der Dekonstruktion. Derrida galt als der weltweit bekannteste zeitgenössische Philosoph. Die tiefe Verankerung für das metaphysische Denken des Abendlands und herrschaftlichen Strukturen sieht Derrida in der alphabetischen Schrift. Ein Novum, denn in der philosophischen Tradition seit Platon wird die Schrift allgemein abgewertet. Sie soll nur Abbildung des Wortes sein, das gesprochene Wort drücke die Seele und den Sinn, die Bedeutung der Wirklichkeit aus. Dabei gerät die Praxis der Schrift und des Schreibens als materielle Praxis aus dem Blick. Doch was passiert in einer Zeit von neuen materiellen Praktiken des Schreibens? Was kritisiert Derrida als Phonologozentrismus? Wie konzipiert er den Begriff Différance? Welche Grundlagen für kritisches Denken hat Derrida gelegt, die heute für emanzipatorische Analyse und Praxis notwendig sind? Im Gespräch mit Alex Demirović ist Joseph Vogl, emeritierter Professor für Neuere deutsche Literatur, Kulturwissenschaft/Medien der Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin.
