So far, I only have locations that serve (at least) as early voting centers. There are several more pages of day-of voting centers that I could conceivably add. I'm debating building a small, static, mobile website with #Leaflet to perhaps make a "show me my closest voting station" feature, and maybe a "schedule my voting time" feature that spits out an ical file or something. The opening hours are all there in the OSM data.

(Annoying sidenote: most college/university locations are either early vote only, election day only, or not open at all :()

During the last days and some little walks through town I managed to climb 10 ranks in the @openstreetmap in #Portugal and conquered the week's silver medal – mostly through low barrier checks on the @streetcomplete app.

OSM India contributor NLBRT (https://www.openstreetmap.org/user/NLBRT) was recently featured in a news article https://www.telegraphindia.com/west-bengal/students-of-siliguri-government-polytechnic-college-to-digitally-map-whole-city-prnt/cid/2088079 that highlights their effort to map amenities in Siliguri through field surveys with their college.

Saquei a app @streetcomplete do @fdroidorg e tenho estado a usá-la para editar info no @openstreetmap.
A app identifica automaticamente os locais próximos que necessitam de levantamento e exibe-os como marcadores de missão no mapa. Cada missão pode ser concluida no local, respondendo a perguntas simples, como "Qual é o nome desta rua?".

É simples e é uma ótima forma de contribuir para o #OSM e melhorar a precisão dos mapas.

Hilarious #OsmAnd routing failure: bike from one neighbourhood to the next in Helsinki, through Stockholm. Only 545 km detour. The voice was outraged that "You have deviated from the path by 60 m!?".

(I think this happened because I have geolocation disabled until a moment before. When you re-enable, it takes a little while for the "real" location to propagate, and a random previous location from the cache is used. When the map updated, the route did not.)

My intermediate results on @streetcomplete (plus some minor additions on @vespucci_editor ) during my trip might not be terribly impressive, but I leveled up 5 ranks in the @openstreetmap all-time score in #Portugal and entered the top 10 of this week's contributors. (which sadly was way to easy)

Thanks to an inquiry posed by @wendy yesterday, I discovered two amazing projects to map community events from aroubd the #fediverse on an @openstreetmap base.

#Mapycz (now #Mapycom) from #Seznam use #OpenStreetMap everywhere except their home country - Czech Republic, where they have their own proprietary maps.
There have been rumours in the #OSM community that they actually copy from OSM. Today I found proof that they really do.
I mapped a new park in #Brno just by surveying and taking notes last year. Later the park showed up on Mapy.com with exactly the same path layout. The new orthophoto is out and it revealed that I didn't get everything right and Seznam got it wrong too. Exactly the same mistakes.

Not cool, Seznam.
