My ★★★ review of A Minecraft Movie on Letterboxd

I had very low expectations for this & it kind of is as brain rot as it looks but it is partially saved by the humour & Jack Black & Jason Momoa riffing perfectly off each other & having a good time

Leave your brain in the lobby & enjoy the aburdity of the film bacause there is nothing of substance here but I'm not sure there needs to be

Jarring animation with one dimensional characters and storytelling really prove a detriment to the film. The film comes across like one of those fan-fiction YouTube creations that were popular what feels like a decade ago. There were a lot of laughs to be had and that has raised the star rating here by a lot. This is a film that is clearly aimed at 6 year olds raised on a diet of brain rot.

I was really disappointed by the film but I'm going to be controversial and say that Rachel Zegler was an excellent casting and is the only reason why I gave it two stars instead of a 1 or no star review
