"But even before the law on the six-day work week comes into force on July 1, Greek workers work longer hours than any other workforce in Europe. With an average 41 hours per week, they work more than all other EU citizens, according to the EU's statistics agency, Eurostat. What's more, the pay they get for these long hours is low by European standards."

#EU #AI #GenerativeAI #AIAct #LabourLaw #TradeUnions: "The EU's emerging AI act contains so little on workers' rights that Europe will need a separate AI-labour law, trade unions say.

Last Wednesday (14 June), the European Parliament adopted its position on the Artificial Intelligence Act — a game-changing set of rules for AI-based products and services.

MEPs inched further on labour rights than the original European Commission proposal.

But in the race to legislate potentially disruptive technologies, EU institutions are still largely overlooking the workers affected by incoming AI systems, unionists say.

AI is changing workers' lives in many ways."

Social EuropeMaking labour law fit for all those who labourBy Nicola Countouris

Pablo Sánchez Centellas, a spokesperson for the European Federation of Public Service Unions, has eloquently described the UK govt’s claim that its latest anti-strike bill is similar to laws on in mainland Europe as “bollocks”

As he and other European trade unionists point out, other countries have much greater protection for the right to strike, compared to the UK’s restrictive position opendemocracy.net/en/minimum-s

The govt has ‘put to one side’ plans for a single labour enforcement body announced in June 2021, which would have had power to enforce laws and impose significant fines for breaches. This leaves the current weak and fragmented enforcement landscape in place. Yet they’ve found time for repeated measures against industrial action ier.org.uk/news/government-sta

iPhone 11: Foxconn viola leis trabalhistas chinesas
