Sloths Need Coffee! ☕️

I've been in a hotel room most of the last two weeks and stuck with broadcast television. It's absolutely wild, shocking, and disturbing how much airtime is pharmaceutical advertising. This shouldn't be legal. Why is everything about our healthcare so fucked up?

I want a "Github Desktop" app but just for like all got stuff. I suck at got and remembering all the little weird commands any time I need to do something outside fetch, push, pull. I know there are a few different git GUIs out there but none of them have the simplicity of Github Desktop. I don't plan on doing anymore personal projects on github and moving to codeberg and a self-hosted Forgejo for private repos. but it stinks to lose my personal favorite workflow.

Worked on my site most of today. I had been writing code on hopes and dreams with no way to even test if it would work until I had gotten to a certain point. I finally reached that point and when I went to build aaaand no dice. I spent a few minutes tracking down all the build blockers aaannd huzah! It builds successfully now I can track down the things that still don't look quite right. Then I can flesh this thing out.

I'm gonna have to do the extremely difficult and time consuming thing of migrating and backing up my data. I'm lucky enough to have an identically sized set of drives, but it will still be a pain. My server has been extremely flaky this week, because of course it has. After all, I'm not home to troubleshoot or fix it. I think it's about time to redo it all from scratch with the knowledge I have now. I've been running on the same data structures and setups from when I started self-hosting. I know how to do it better now but it always required too much work and potential data loss.

I looked like an absolute lunatic, as something in my body shifts and my face contorts to absolute pain and horror and I let out an anguished howl in the middle of the sushi restaurant then immediately ask for the check. It's a good thing their food wasn't any good because I can never go back there. But I needed to go back to the safety of a hotel bed and my pain meds ASAP. I will have to find sustenance elsewhere.

Damn, I get either 10min of walking or 5min of trying to have coherent thoughts. After that I need a nap. Like exhausted having a hard time keeping my eyes open kinda need a nap.

My 6am alarm this morning was a fire alarm. Currently sitting outside the hotel in the dark waiting for the fire department to give the all clear. I now know steps are super not fun right now…

Me: Turns out surgery recovery is pretty darn painful.

Discharged baby! I'm sitting outside right now and am only a few minutes away from a real bed. Also I got to see a picture of my removed kidney. It was awesome lol
