Halifax NS is looking for citizen input on social media.
They're thinking of dropping X/Twitter and shifting to BlueSky.
This is your chance to affect some change. Tell them Mastodon is where you want them. No oligarchs putting their thumbs on the scale, it's been here for years and is stable, no corporate enshitification cycle.
Tell them if they have to go BlueSky, bridge the muni account to Mastodon and the Fediverse.
I use mastodon and Bluesky. Mastodon is the better bet politically. I support it. Unfortunately, there are very few Nova Scotians here, and I am on .ca instance but very little about or for Canada. The #nspoli and #canpoli is almost never used (except by Matthew Guy and me) I am on a Bluesky filled up fast with locals, and tons of Canadians ... Hard sell for the city - "please use the app where the population isn't." Build it and they will come? !
@unionmaidns @adwright
#cdnpoli is a much bigger group than #canpoli
Recommended for CanCon:
The CBC has an account here.
If you follow these, then follow people who post there, there is a lot of Canadian action here on Mastodon.
@northernlights @unionmaidns @adwright @canada Following hashtags is also a great way to stay connected.
#Canada and such.
Welcome to this century.
Still contemplating... "thinking about" ditching private foreign-owned billionaire for-profit surveillance networks (pretending to be "social networks") who sell your metrics and manipulate entire nations, including Canada...
Bless them, but they should have figured this shit out already.
It's not a real question and doesn't need a survey...
GET OFF OF THEM is the only answer.
Run their own Mastodon instance is the best solution.
21st century stuff here.
;)
