so, when Marine Le Pen got smacked down, decided to catch up with my French politics reading and, those were the days (less than a week ago) when only la gauche were calling for a boycott of États-Unis over and shameless & , especially the Tesla shmuck.

then the orange fuckwad turned tariffs into extortion.

so now, Macron has said, in so many words, it’s time to & USA:

L'Express · Guerre commerciale de Donald Trump : la réponse d’Emmanuel MacronBy L’Express

here’s the thing,

Macron has not just pull in Europe, but he is basically riding on some serious polling done on French sentiment towards EEUU: from an all time high of a 65% of yays and hi5s during the admin, only 25% of French people think positively of USA

none of the separate countries have economies that rival USA, BUT THAT’S WHY EXISTS. put them all together and they do rival the “largest” economy in the world.

the is happening because the EU left have been working on this for months.

for the , Macron literally said, stop all investments for the next month. that would tank Wall Street even further.

and ? EU been itching to sanction USA tech oligarchs. tis the excuse they been waiting for. /🧵

@blogdiva yep, and as others have suggested, get Canada, the UK, the EU, Mexico, Japan etc to form a trading bloc and fuck off Felon.

@blogdiva the EU certainly wants to get rid of dependencies like Microsoft, Google, Meta, Apple, computer manufacturers, printers, servers, cloud storage outside the jurisdiction, internet foundations, etc, which are all controlled by the USA. It is a giant amount of tech money that is going to depart the USA post haste.

@zephyrleifrenner the french & germans been investing a fuckton to make that happen.

@blogdiva I wouldn’t at all be surprised if a city gets designated as the EU hub and they start poaching English speaking talent. The tech crowd in the USA has too much money and power to comfortably grovel under and cater to the business destroying whims of their new master. I say this despite the current appearance that they are big supporters and beneficiaries. No power can be allowed to be too big under this new master.

@blogdiva the same is true of everything the USA produces. Defense exports from the USA just evaporated because they can be bricked remotely or denied software updates or spare parts. Bio tech dependencies are going to disappear. The dollar as a financial vehicle. The USA as an academic training ground for all sorts of PHDs.

@blogdiva I wonder if the EU sticks with English as the Lingua Franca?
