Great little video here on the rediscovery and importance of Black Oats.

"Filmed in Welsh with English subtitles, it epitomises how and why reviving seed diversity is a transformational act, helping to re-value and pass on the language, skills and culture that have enabled farmers and rural communities to thrive for generations in Wales, and around our living planet".

@druid This is such a great production (film, article, and photos), thank you very much! I had goosebumps (and so lovely to hear this language).

We have nearly the same old threshing machine in our farm museum.
It's touching because here in eastern France (Alsace), we had a similar development. A young couple restaurated an old mill and specialised in bio flour. They became interested in ancient species, found a farmer, made experiments with ancient grains.
The biggest surprise were not the

@druid grains alone. These people, and their food changed a whole micro-region into a positive way of life, of cooperation, and built a strong network with people living here. And all this could happen in a political far-right region - a sign of hope how seeds can change people ...

@NatureMC Thanks Petra! I'm really glad you liked it. The project near you sounds fantastic! Like you said, it gives us hope to see what good can be achieved when people come together, in harmony with their surroundings.

@NatureMC Wow! That's lovely! I'm so glad my post brought some much needed respite after the sludge deluge!

@NatureMC BTW, if you'd like to hear the music that's been inspired by this project and the surviving stories from the area, you can find them on the new album Shimli by . I literally haven't stopped playing it since it came out. I love it! 😊

Here's the video for Helmi.
