Eric Maugendre<p>A case at the Court of Justice of the European Union <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/CJEU" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>CJEU</span></a> was about a trans man who had been granted asylum in Hungary based on coming from Iran, a country where Trans+ communities face violence and persecution.</p><p>He was left in a legal paradox: be granted citizenship in the wrong gender, or not at all. On top of this, because Hungary banned legal gender recognition for citizens in 2020, accepting citizenship would lock him out of changing his legal gender in future. Henning Deters<p>There's a beautiful piece of research by Malang and Leifeld where they study the diffusion of reasoned opinions among national parliaments in the <a href="https://eupolicy.social/tags/EU" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>EU</span></a> Early Warning System. They model parliamentary chambers as nodes in a directed network between first movers and subsequent followers based on the temporal sequence in which they submit EWS opinions. The NETINF algorithm is used to infer the network. Given intervention dates, this could also be applied to study the diffusion of <a href="https://eupolicy.social/tags/CJEU" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>CJEU</span></a> amicus briefs.</p>
