A propos, does anyone have any good news/war stories about https://www.pcloud.com/eu?ref=104038 ? They seem pretty good to me.

With respect to https://ciberlandia.pt/@jt_rebelo/114083858489184201, I will be looking for Dropbox replacements - somewhat slowly because I have other fish to fry, but it's on my to-do.
EU based suggestions are welcome. Must support sync for Android, Linux, Windows 11 & Mac OS, unfortunately.
There's now an open PR for adding a Solid back-end to remoteStorage.js so I need an account to test it with one of my apps.
Solid devs/users: what server implementation should I run on my own machine, and is there a popular provider for hosted accounts that I could test with, too?
Our Mastodon instance admins added a custom #remoteStorage emoji/icon, which any other admins may copy to their instances as well:
Learn about the background and conceptual ideas behind Notes Together, a #remoteStorage-enabled note-taking app that also supports lists:

(If you already knew the app, did you know it can be used for to-do lists?)
Wondering what kinds of projects and knowledge people will bring to Hacker Beach this coming January? Here are a few choice examples that we know of already:
#xmpp #infosec #devops #foss #linux #cooperatives #fediverse #lightningnetwork #podcasting #remotestorage #decentralization
What will you bring?
A warm welcome to all the people now following us over here on fedi!
Fun fact: Did you know that both the #fediverse and #remoteStorage are based on user addresses and discovery via #WebFinger?
If you're interested in the history, here's a video of @bmann interviewing @blaine about it:

The #remoteStorage monthly hangout is happening again tomorrow; this time with a focus on RS servers:

Be welcome to join us and exchange about all things #remoteStorage.
@raucao will share an upcoming ‘read later’ feature in his bookmarking app Webmarks https://webmarks.5apps.com
3. Our first monthly gathering is next week. Let’s meet up and exchange about all things #remoteStorage.
@rosano will share a first look at the refreshed website.

Comfortable with your #Docker skills and want to contribute a little bit to an important #remoteStorage project? Here's a Docker PR waiting for a review:
... just to clarify: #remotestorage is basically a key/value store with folders and folder listings. So there's no geo search or graph support or anything.
One of the reasons the modern nation state has become ubiquitous is that organizing information and actions internationally is much more efficient with clearly defined regional geographic entities.
I'm thinking about organizing location bookmarks in #remotestorage folders (hierarchical tree structure), and using country ISO codes would be the easiest solution. But it wouldn't actually cover every location on Earth.
Anyone has ideas for a broad geo property that doesn't rely on nation states?
@rosano Your idea with the emoji as custom icons in Emoji Log inspired me to finally add folders to Webmarks! Looks nice, and you can even animate changing the size of them very nicely with simple CSS font-size transitions...
We're having a public planning/community call next Tuesday (April 21), with the aim of creating a rough roadmap toward RFC track for the #remoteStorage spec, and its broad adoptability. Everyone is invited:

#remoteStorage illustrates nicely why specs should to be accompanied by a stable reference implementation. While it's a great idea in principle, all available server implementations are badly outdated and most violate the spec in more or less subtle ways.
