Things we believe:

- All things are possible through partners & community

- It's our job to uplift the voices & work of those who are systemically excluded by working together to create the tools people need to shape their own future

- Trust is built by being consistent, seeing where you can fill a gap, and doing what you say you are going to do

youtube.com/watch?v=VBFc4wPBO08

How to make any cloud provider end-to-end-encrypted with Cryptomator, a free and open source E2EE tool. With Cryptomator you can make Dropbox, iCloud, Google Drive encrypted for maximum security.

A slightly hectic but very useful introduction to Cryptomator from Techlore, who are well worth following.

Well worth your time.

Over the past five years, Horizontal has developed vital tools like @tella to empower those most at risk of surveillance.

However, the recent funding freeze imposed by the Trump administration threatens to dismantle everything we’ve built: our organization, our tools, and our community.

To help us survive as we build new revenue streams to become self-sustaining, we are looking for 250 monthly donors.

For group chat #security, it would be really cool if @signalapp had an optional feature that allowed group chat admins to see a network map of which accounts added which other accounts.

For a couple of the group chats I'm in, we sorta do this manually but it seems like there's the technical capability allow this as an opt-in feature, which would be great for semi-open groups.

🌐🔒 Exciting news for privacy! The US government has officially recommended using Signal and other encrypted messaging apps after recent telecom hacks. This is a huge step forward in recognizing the importance of secure communication!

As someone who has always championed free and open-source software, I’m thrilled to see this acknowledgment from the government, especially given the increasing threats to our privacy. With the rise of surveillance and the potential for breaches in our communication networks, it’s more important than ever to prioritize encrypted messaging.

If even the CIA is warning us about the dangers of unencrypted communications, we should take it seriously! Let’s embrace tools that protect our privacy and autonomy. Remember, our digital safety is in our hands!

Have you made the switch to Signal or another secure messaging app, or know someone making it now?
