#SabiLewSounds, elderly mom & ESA bun are in danger

If you can help in no other way, please at least help raise support, even by simply helping their need to be seen

Their lives endangered by the very #capitalist #colonialism that displaced their #Indigenous ancestors, centuries ago

The same that now provides comfort to some, while #marginalizing others

They're endangered by the color of their skin alone, by #poverty, by #disability, by #xenophobia

@broadwaybabyto legally disabled in the late 80's I had good days when I was handy AF and bad days when I was bedridden.
I got social assistance but they treated me like I was scamming them.
I trained myself in tech and finally got off of SSA.
Now, in my mid 60's, I find myself missing a leg and riddled with cancer, but able to work in IT so I do work full time.
People who have never experienced disability should stfu.
And don't get me started on bipeds!

Disability is not a moral failing. It’s not a punishment. It’s not karma.

It’s part of the human experience. Our bodies are frail, and given enough time most people will experience disability.

The idea that we’re lazy, choosing not to “try hard” or want to be sick is a fallacy born out of ableism.

So again for the people in the back:

This is what we mean by being #DisabledBySociety both figuratively & literally, primarily & secondarily.

What you should also appreciate is that is can happen to anyone at anytime.

Financial & emotional supports can help cushion the blow, but often they don’t always last.

One of the best ways you can help disabled people and fight fascism is by wearing a mask.

Representation and visibility matter. When you wear a mask you tell us you care about making public spaces safe & accessible.

You also make it harder for mask bans to pass.

Mask up. We need you

Using paratransit to get to power soccer game during VTA strike

Video from @Aubrie and @pesh

I HIGHLY recommend that folks who do not rely on paratransit watch this video. There's a tendency to assume the best of abled systems' attempts at accessibility and you really should not. You need to know exactly how bad paratransit is.

Texas and New York are currently trying to enact mask bans, even as measles cases sore and politicians adopt eugenicist mindsets that say it’s our “patriotic duty” to remain healthy.

You know what helps people stay healthy? Wearing a mask.

Don’t let them say medical exemptions are the answer:
