Walking out of my apartment building one morning, I came across this ‘calling card’ from someone’s overnight encampment. It broke my heart. 
Living downtown, the house-less are my neighbors, and when one becomes more intimate with their struggles, it takes no effort to overcome one’s initial aversion, and interact with them like—one’s neighbors! If you refuse to turn away, your heart will tell you what to do.

Sadie’s rain cape is back in the hallway closet this morning. We’re having a major rain failure today and Mr. Bluesky is back! 
We enjoyed a quiet morning stroll along Capitol Lake, observing the buffleheads (my faves), mallards (Sadie’s faves), red-neck grebes, goldeneyes, and other waterfowl. We were both in good spirits upon returning to our apartment.
