Recently, I discovered that some people (mostly "productivity gurus," so make of that what you will) claim to read 100+ books per year. Which is ridiculous, IM(ns)HO.
But then you dig deeper into these claims, and as it turns out, these selfproclaimed Frequent Readers
just *listen* to some audio books on x3 speed and call it a day. And I'm fully comfortable juding this crap behaviour and gate-keeping one of my fav hobbies from this kinda bullshittery.
If you are *listening* to an audio book, you are NOT reading a book.
If you are listening to an audio book *on x3 speed*, you are DEFINITELY not reading a book.
Hell, I have nothing against folks listening to audio books. Visually impaired people for example obviously benefit greatly from audio books. But FFS, stop calling it "reading." It's disingenuous. It's a lie. Plain and simple. You wouldn't say you cooked a 5 course meal when you actually just ordered a bunch of crap take-out on DoorDash.
And if you're a productivity guru spewing lies about "reading" a book on x3 playback speed: Take a long walk off a short plank.
