Serbia Says Russian Spy Help in Protest Crackdown
Deputy PM Vulin thanked Russian spy agencies for aiding Serbia against protests. Protests erupted after 16 died in Novi Sad station collapse, blamed on corruption. Vucic claims Western nations are plotting against his government. Vulin resigned as BIA chief after US sanctions over pro-Russian ties.
Authorities have faced near-daily protests since last November when a Renovated station roof collapsed killing 15 people in #NoviSad, Serbia's second city.
Students, teachers and other workers blamed rampant government corruption and negligence for the disaster.
They are also demanding release of documents about the disaster and accountability for those responsible.

En Serbie, Des agris aux prof·fes, en passant par les musics et les prêtres, des citoyen·ness de tous horizons ont manifesté leur solidarité avec la jeunesse pour dénoncer la corruption, notamment suite à l' effondrement d'un pont avec plusieurs personnes décédées.
On y retrouve aussi les mouvements contre Rio Tinto et l'extraction minière et contre le Raw material act de l'EU.
Les Roumain·es se mobilisent pour la reprise de l’élection présidentielle, pour la transparence. Il y a l'extreme droite qui tente de récupérer la contestation des opacités d'un dirigeant libéral centre droit. La Russie y joue ses atouts.
En Turquie, la population réclame des rémunérations plus justes et des conditions de travail dignes.

Last year, we took a week to drive slowly from Berlin along the "Balkan route" via the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Serbia and North Macedonia to my husband's Greek family's house on the Ionian Sea. This picture is from #NoviSad in #Serbia, where, like everywhere else, we met the nicest people and spent a lovely evening. I always think about it now when I hear news about today's remarkable protests there.
