@madcollector The first point that seemed strange to me was Thrawn’s meeting with Palpatine. It was too easy and it doesn’t make sense. Why does Palpatine want to meet with a random prisoner, among many that the Empire does every day? Only if there is something related to the Jedi or Sith in the region where Thrawn comes from (I don’t know if the Outbound Flight was canonized). It still seems very unlikely.
@madcollector I read the first 50 pages and I also got the feeling it’s Rebels’ Thrawn other than the Thrawn Trilogy. I found some minor inconsistencies (I think, but it’s too early, I need to read more), but so far so good.

I’m listening to this song now while reading Star Wars Thrawn. No, it’s not a direct allusion to the Thrawn of Rebels (because there it seems to me a little different from the books), but it definitely helped me get in the mood.

I’ve read the #Thrawn books and have watched #Rebels, so it’s really exciting to see this playing out in live action, and it’s so cool the voice actor for Thrawn is playing the live action role.
I’ve also read some of the (now Legends and non-canon) dawn of the Jedi books, and while this is taking a different direction, I think I can see where they’re heading, especially since they announced that one of the 3 upcoming movies would focus on those early days of the Jedi.
Ahsoka ep7: Spoiler-ish
- #Thrawn is such an annoyingly great villain.
- #Baylan… wish we can have more of him. Most interesting character of the show.
- This is Starwars #Rebels with a splash of #Ahsoka
- Still not sure why they didn’t market this as a live action Rebels.
- Think they will stick the landing for the season finale, but I don’t expect the main conflict to be resolved.
- Wouldn’t be surprised if they pull a “To be continued…” cliffhanger.

So, others have noted how Thrawn from Star Wars Ahsoka looks like Elon Musk, and presumably: that is intentional and deliberate.
Yet, I haven't seen anyone mention how he also looks an awful lot like a Gamilan from Space Battleship Yamato, and how could that not: also be intentional and deliberate? Star Wars has always ripped off Leiji Matsumoto (RIP) without attribution, and in decades, has never created ANYTHING as compelling, to me at least, as even the most mundane contributions from the Leijiverse.
Daft Punk: collaborated with Leiji Matsumoto on インターステラ5555「intāsutera fō faibu, "Four Five"」Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem after all. Can you imagine them doing anything with a Lucas franchise? I can't. It would be beneath them. I'm not even a big Daft Punk fan tbh, but I'll never get enough of 松本零士「matsumoto leiji」I mean, sure, mostly because I am too poor to even come close to being a completionist to the 漫画家「mangaka」who started drawing when he was six and started making his own manga when he was 11 and moved to Tokyo to go pro at 18 and was 85 when he passed away earlier this year.
However, even if I were a billionaire or somehow lucked upon a complete collection of everything Matsumoto had created, how many years of MY life would it take to read and watch and translate? Probably more than I have left as a human on this Earth. Then again, most signs seem to indicate I am stuck in myriad rings of hell eternally, but being rings of Hell, again: no way they would let me have the complete works of Leiji Matsumoto on my income.
I'd have to like, upload my consciousness into a spaceship computer such as 大山トチロー「ōyama tochirō」in Space Pirate Captain Harlock, and I am not a transhumanist and think that the more I use computers, the more I think most humans do not do a very good job with them at all, let alone good enough for consciousness hosting.
Ahsoka SPOILERS
I feel like the “obvious” route is for this season to be a long road to find Thrawn and Ezra, though, and have Thrawn only really featured at the end. Then again, if that was the plan, I feel like they would have not featured him as prominently (or at all?) in the trailers. It would have been a much more exciting reveal if we didn’t see him until the heroes did.
So maybe that’s not how this is going to go? I’d be happy to be wrong. :)
