When we went on #hedgewatch in the #Heide/#Heath. We found again #windkanter/#ventifacts. This was a #sandstone a #sedimentary #rock & is now a #quartzite i.e. the #metamorphic equivalent. Thus it has seen high #temperature &/or #pressure. The stripes are the remnants of the sedimentary layers

Titanic/Avatar director James #Cameron and his wife, Suzy Amis Cameron, have listed their #Hollister #Ranch compound at 89 Hollister Ranch Road ($33 million).
According to the Wall Street Journal, “after buying the house [for $4.375 million in the late 1990s], they spent a year remodeling it […] installing #quartzite flooring and restoring the original, #natural #woods, which had been stained and painted.
‘The previous owner had had a lot of #marble,’ the director said. ‘We brought it back down to something that felt connected to the land.'”
It’s a full, 102-acre share; besides the main house (8,000 square feet, more or less), there’s a #guest #house, two #barns, and (per the listing) “a 4,795-square-foot #equestrian #facility that is next to the Ranch offices with #caretaker’s #quarters, including four apartments that feature six bedrooms and six bathrooms.”

It is an iconic 645 square kilometre wilderness park that showcases the wild Georgian Bay coast of pink #granite and the La Cloche mountains white #quartzite ridges. In the #fall, this area is even more spectacular with brilliant red and gold foliage!
