First payment for #Deel’s corporate espionage plot against Rippling was paid through a #Revolut account. Subsequent payments were made using crypto (ethereum), because the CEO of Deel believed (incorrectly) such payments would “leave no trace”.

When they got caught the CEO of Deel told the spy to destroy his electronic devices and offered to relocate them to #Dubai.

I would bet an enormous amount of money that any HR/payroll companies like Deel that engage in corporate espionage and offer to relocate people to Dubai are also laundering money for #Russia and/or Iran.

Was auch sehr ungewohnt aus europäischer Sicht ist: wie oft es von der Metro aus Fußgängerbrücken über eine sehr breite Autobahn gibt, in der Rollbänder verlaufen.

Dubai hat zwar Metrolinien und eine Tramlinie, aber eine Green City ist das so ganz und gar nicht.

In der Metro habe ich übrigens das erste Mal einen richtigen Haltestellenrush wie in Asien erlebt, bei dem gedrückt und gestoßen wurde bis alle dicht an dicht waren und wirklich niemand mehr physisch möglich einsteigen konnte.

Am letzten Nachmittag in Dubai habe ich zwei absolute Touristendestinationen abgeklappert: den Strand von Dubai Marina und die Dubai Mall am Burj Khalifa. So viele Europäer*innen und Russ*innen habe ich in sämtlichen anderen Stadtteilen zusammengerechnet nicht gesehen.

Das Zentrum des Expo-Geländes, Al Wasl Plaza. Die Kuppel über dem Platz ist die weltweit größte 360-Grad-Projektionsfläche, wird aktuell aber nicht dafür genutzt.

Der Platz wird auch bei der Nachnutzung des Geländes als Stadtviertelmitte bestehen bleiben.

Ich habe in einem Hotel auf dem Gelände der Weltausstellung 2020 übernachtet.

Das ist aktuell ziemlich ausgestorben – die Pavillions seit über zwei Jahren geschlossen, nur wenige Attraktionen können noch besichtigt werden. Aber: Sicherheits- und Putzpersonal ist da und arbeitet.

Im Süden Dubais gibt es einen ungebrochenen Bauboom: Lauter neue Wolkenkratzer und Wohnhaussiedlungen entstehen.

Gibt es in der Stadt wirklich so einen Bedarf nach Wohnraum? Ich zweifle etwas daran.

Eine ganze Anzahl an Stadtvierteln und Metrostationen sind übrigens nach den Firmen benannt, die diese Viertel bauen haben lassen. Fühlt sich dystopisch an.
